Great Certification Programs for Transitioners:

The US Army has the COOL program (https://www.cool.osd.mil/army/index.html)– “COOL (Credentialing Opportunities On-Line) helps Army Soldiers find information on certifications and licenses related to their Military Occupational Specialties (MOSs). COOL explains how Soldiers can meet civilian certification and license requirements and provides links to numerous resources to help get them started.

The US Navy also has the COOL program (https://www.cool.osd.mil/usn/index.html)- for their service members.

Active duty military personnel can also get matched with potential employers before they get out, making for a smooth transition from their military career to their civilian career. Military personnel can go to their respective service branch military transition program for matching transitioning military with potential employers.

Air Force Cool Program (https://afvec.us.af.mil/afvec/af-cool/welcome)

Currently the US Army is using the Transition Assistance Program (TAP), which provides job assistance and separation counseling for soldiers and their families.

The Marine Corps Transition Readiness Program (https://southcarolina.usmc-mccs.org/marine-family-support/transition-readiness)

The US Navy uses a program called Transition GPS (https://www.mynavyhr.navy.mil/Career-Management/Transition/Transition-TAP/)

Military Transcripts

A military transcript is a valuable record of your training, education, and experience. It provides documented evidence of this experience for colleges, universities, and employers.

Colleges and universities recognize the training and education provided by the military. They may award academic credit based on military experiences. This can save time and money when completing courses at civilian institutions.

A transcript translates your military experience into civilian language. This helps employers understand your transferable skills, such as leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, and technical expertise.

The Army, Marine Corps, Navy, and Coast Guard use the JST. It documents formal training and occupations that have been reviewed by ACE.

The Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) offers a two-year associate of applied science degree. It gives transcripts to service members who finish coursework from this program. Air University is a separate system that provides professional military education for the United States Air Force.

You can access any of these records if you are active duty, national guard, reserves, or a veteran.
